Spend that time building up savings to learn about real estate investing, network, and soak up as much knowledge as you can.

Thanks for the welcome...It definitely seems like everyone is more than happy to assist...I plan on soaking up as much knowledge as I can.

If he goes to work at an investment firm and someone else worth tens of millions or more is willing to (kiss the note) on a deal because they believe in him then he could possibly get further/faster than working a trade.Trades can provide a good income but if he loves real estate than working at an investment firm with many years of experience to soak in, learn from, and absorb could make a lot of sense.

Find a mentor (someone that is where you want to be) and shadow that person and soak up everything you can so you to can learn from their successes and failures alike.  

I am currently soaking up information about this topic left and right.

When I first got into investing, there was just so much information to soak up that I listened to and read everything I could find.

Right now, I’m just soaking up as much as I can from this forum, listening to podcasts, and reading books.
