If you are going with a reputed builder who has track record of delivering on project go with it.The best year to exit would be between 2nd and 3rd where in your investment will have appreciated 50% and mostly you would have only paid 50% to the builder by then. 20% your investment and 30% from bank depending on phases.leverage as much as possible from bank and hold money in the FD at the 9 to 10% range (Yes banks in india pay that kind of interest rate on deposits).I am not sure how long this craziness in indian market is going to continue specially mumbai but handle the risk and have some contingency plan if you need to hold it for longer periods because the interest payments will bite into any speculative profit that you might be anticipating.

A quick search on Zillow shows that these numbers are a bit conservative, but I don't entirely trust the listings on Zillow.From the employment perspective, looks like the port employs a bunch of people, and so does the Army airfield, which would both provide stability, and some demand for rental housing.
