@Ned Carey How were you able to overcome the challenge of securing an account?

The combination of extremely high insurance premiums with the current high cost of capital; will be a major challenge that needs to be overcome when looking for a property that will produce a solid return on investment. 

Anyone here can tell me what are some common challenges one may face when starting a house hacking or coliving property, and how can they be overcome?

While my job has some great advantages, there are some disadvantages that I will need to overcome.

most of the risk in direct real estate, in reality, comes from unexpected events:- natural disaster- tenant issue- city issue or regulation- crime actionI have been thru all of that, and the key to overcoming that issue is to have a huge reserve and be a strong character, be resourceful and ability to fix problem/delegate issue extremely quickly.

The owner wants to capture the appreciation and equity just as much as you do (you to overcome your negative cash flow, him to fully realize a return on his investment) but he can only do it in the sale price.The market is the market.

I do make $80k.I am trying other banks, but I heard of another strategy today - which is to Co-Sign with a parent/friend with good income, to overcome the DTI.

There is nothing worse than an upset guest, if you can't make them happy and they leave a crappy review it's hard to overcome and could be the spiral of death for your property.
