Anyone have any sage advice for a first timer before I head out?

If so, I'd be happy to hear some recommendations and also open to advice from the elder sages here.

Thinking to maybe burn some sage in the house on my next visit…not sure what else might help to be on the safe side or maybe the renovations will help clean the energy.

I use to live on the other side of the island (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) and then in the middle (rue Saint-Denis) many, many years ago.As you have already noted, there is a welcoming and encouraging community here on BP with lots of experience and sage advice.While much of the information you will find here is universal, but in the areas of finance, regulation and taxation things are a little difference here in Canada (particulierement au Québec) - working in credit at RBC, you may already be familiar with the distinctions.Investing in real estate as part of your portfolio is a wise idea and if I can be of any assistance, just drop a note.

I will have to say Jon gave some sage advice and many others echoed that as well.

(Mental disabilities are real, and most people with mental disabilities are not walking around in straight jackets drooling on themselves, BTW... ) It's hard for the family members in some of these cases- they want to help, but it's not always possible (or desirable from a therapeutic standpoint) to take over someones life for them.
