When things go down it might not be the right time to sell but cash flow should be there on the properties if bought correctly to add with existing cash to deploy. 

The second variable is players in the market and the third variable will be how much capital you need to deploy to get a ROI on your time and money. 

I'm also a fan of house hacking, which would be a very safe way to deploy some of that money (again, not likely in NYC).

To my knowledge, excluding deployment, the longest a NG/RES Soldier has training in a YR is 14 consecutive days and then obviously drill once a month (on a weekend).Like previous posters have said ask the tenant to provide a copy of orders.
