Hi All,I have been contemplating volunteering for the local Habitat for Humanity program here. 

Sure, and just to add, I've done some Habitat for Humanity volunteer work just for fun and as corporate volunteer activities. 

I learned everything from coordinating volunteers for a demolition party, placating investor fears, project management, mitigating contractor disputes, market analysis for apartments, advertising, property management, etc...

Do some volunteer work at the local vets club/lions/moose club etc.

REIA of Oakland is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 run entirely by volunteers.

I use to volunteer if I want to learn something but it isn't always easy finding someone who is willing to let a person help and learn, because they have to take time to train.

The other Southside groups I recommend are both volunteer run - Tidewater Real Estate Investors Group and the Hampton Roads Landlord Assoc.  

Specifically, they said " they were never contacted for payment and the HOA is not volunteer "(I'm assuming the title lady told the director I stated it was....and I also signed paperwork and seller disclosures it was volunteer because that was my understanding).

If they are on a month to month, they might volunteer to leave.
