It just got approved by the California Supreme court in Sept 2020.

The best hope landlords have is a lawsuit that makes its way to the supreme court to rule these moratoriums unconstitutional.

However, I would pay attention to things like the Supreme Court Case that was argued last week, Collins vs Mnuchin (this decides the fate of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac). 

From union retirement funds in Ireland, the John Hancock's of wallstreet.... from Zanzabar too Aruba and all points in between there is literally TRILLIONS of dollars wrapped into mortgage securities, and your saying "yup, can just waive a magic wand and say it all stops"......Now that alone shows how foolish and childish naivety it is to say property ownership rights can just vanish, but there is multi-dimensions of this such as a little thing called contract law, THE CONSTITUTION, the supreme court, the Union itself, the NAHB, the NAR, the tens and hundreds of millions of Red White and Blue bleeding AMERICAN PATRIOTS who over their dead body would allow the US OF A to be turned into a Soviet Socialist Communist waste land!!!!!! 

The last ordinance went  to RI supreme court and was overturned but the providence 3 unrelated persons ordinance was upheld in supreme court.

This is more about health and safety, in which both state and federal governments have broad authority supported by Supreme Court precedent. 

In the article it did say the Federal government could appeal the ruling, and my guess is they probably will, this simply adds another wrinkle to the entire debate.If I had to guess what will happen next is that this will be appealed and pending the outcome of that appeal end up going to the Supreme Court, where I would guess it will be struck down as unconstitutional.

Bottom line, I see eviction moratoriums ending or it will end up in the supreme court. - Huge amounts of money for state bail outs, small businesses, restaurants, etc.

I hope we can organize and find ways to fight this gross violation of our rights, all the way to the supreme court if necessary.
