If the Tenant fails to obtain or maintain renters insurance as required, the Landlord may purchase a force-placed liability insurance policy to protect the Landlord’s interests.

I would also add that you join your local REIA chapter (Real Estate Investor Association) as it will allow you to network with other STR owners and get more location-specific information.

I have noticed quite a few posters lately that are requesting help, opinions, prices and information on their properties where a good answer would require either the square footage, the location or both....and they provide neither.
