I am most likely going to be moving into the multi family sector with a concentration in value add opportunities until I can move to 100+ unit complexes and retire early from my day job.

As for the sectors of REI I would like to get involved in, it varies a bit and I haven’t learned enough to go into specifics.

I personally don't invest in TX as that is the only state my lender does not operate however I am getting feelers about tech sector softening(May be, may not).Good Luck InvestingVivek

I would strongly suggest hiring an attorney and a real estate agent who know that sector well.

I've looked at some smaller multis around HWY 90 but the vacancy due to a slower Oil Sector concerned me, especially with C class assets.

And then you have the newer apartment complexes which have been built as long-term holds by tight-knit groups of investors and never hit the market.There is a spate of new student housing capacity going in that may dramatically change this sector.  

You might find that it isn't necessarily easy to find a good cash flowing deal in the multi-family sector in our market as well.  

The one thing I would add is that while you are researching the asset class, be certain that you get the proper education and align yourself with individuals that are SUCCESSFUL in the Self Storage Business, and discard the advice from others who do not have experience in this incredible sector of Commercial Real Estate.
