Any tips for others from Australia looking to invest in US property?

About 4 hours from many Asian destinations (Philippines, Japan, Korea, even Australia. 

I have a successful full-time career investing in agriculture, water and renewable energy in California and Australia, but am also very interested in furthering my personal real estate portfolio.My brother introduced me to the world of Podcasts and I have been extensively listening to BP (which led me to this website) and also the Real Estate Guys. 

A friend got an Indiana skype number, which disguised that he was calling from Australia. 

The price of properties in Australia are obviously very different to the American market, I can't even imagine something like wholesale buying and although I have found the bp podcasts very informative at this stage I am still coming to terms with concepts and terminology.
