Mid-term is more likely to work in any market than STR, but I think you would be surprised at how well an STR could do if there are no other options like that in the area (think people's parents or friends coming in for the week(end)).I've seen a lot of people grimacing at the net-negative house hack (it's just a product of rates and low inventory in a lot of markets) and this is one option to try to recoup some of that loss.

No negative comments about them at all.

Knob and tube has more negatives than most people think, As a GC doing lots of remodels in a old beach town, we replaced a ton of these.

I stayed in a STR with over 200 5-star ratings, and not a single negative.

Seems like a lot of the negative comments and reviews are related to bookings, advertising, extra fees, etc.

With all the negative comments and concerns over the houses not being completed per the contract dates, perhaps all the investors should speak to a local real estate attorney and see if they can get their money back or other concessions. 

Just remember: most negative reviews are written by problematic tenants.

Someone might be willing to purchase with negative equity if they are able to take over your <4% rate with basically nothing down.
