County property records show California investors have bought the most properties here, but investors from the East Coast and down to Florida also are snatching up properties.Even foreign investors are in on it: from Asia, Australia and Europe.

I can't speak specifically to your question, but I have close relatives in Australia and I've been to Queensland, so I wanted to reach out. 

However, is there an opportunity to invest in notes in the UK or Australia or even broker them, else well?

The price of properties in Australia are obviously very different to the American market, I can't even imagine something like wholesale buying and although I have found the bp podcasts very informative at this stage I am still coming to terms with concepts and terminology.
