@Susan TanNot to sound flippant, but when investors buy bonds we don't see the actual paper, we don't see the factory or boardroom when we buy a stock, and most people wouldn't even really know what to look for when looking at a property.

Not glamorous boardroom deals but very hands on property work that would help  prepare you for any number of strategies from flips to buy and hold, from single family to apartments.

I drove down to Silicon Valley to their office to drop off the check, and get escorted to the Board room.

We are the ones working tirelessly so that men could do their bit and flourish in the workspace, the boardrooms, and the government.

I can only imagine the post-ice-storm boardroom discussions that birthed that idea!

Justing R and Andrea D, you articulated much better than I could have.I only add that many inequities in home ownership were not market driven but executive boardroom driven; redlining was commonplace for generations. 

The reality is that while the "rules" and statistics might be your best guide in a board room setting, most of us are in the trenches of real estate investing, where the x% rule isn't always as reliable - especially in the current market where we have super high prices, low interest rates, a shift to vacation rentals, record high rental demand, etc.

Everyone in the boardroom agreed shaking their heads in agreement.

That's one of the benefits of being my own boss, I get to pick the location of the board room.  

All this mowing, gutter cleaning, trash pick up, planting, washing, even doing garage clean outs (often for older people in my old home town) was ideal training for being a hands on landlord (yes, it is not all Donald Trump board room stuff, but hands on property work)..
