Ice Storm Damage in Oklahoma City
Hello all,
I got a letter (haven't seen it yet, tenant received it) supposedly from the electric company wishing to charge me $5000 for their having to do electric repair. This sounds extremely fishy to me. Anyone have this happen? I'm assuming they are saying a limb fell from a tree on my property and took down a line. However, I know there was a FEMA declaration in the city and such damage is covered by FEMA (I used to work for them). Any thoughts?
Thanks, Randy

Hey @Randall Cornelison,
I know some OG&E guys and have talked to them about the ice storm and what they are responsible for or not. Essentially, they will hook up the electric service coming out of the weatherhead, but anything from the weatherhead down to the panel is on you. Or rather, a privately hired electrician. On their website they have some resources supporting that. Therefore, it would go against what they say if they are doing what a private electrician should do. Probably a liability issue as well.
When my power line got ripped off my fascia board, I reinstalled the board, the insulator, and made it so they could simply stop by and reattach the power line to my house. If it ripped off the weatherhead, I would have had to hire someone to fix that.
Hope that helps.
