Hello, I was thinking about installing dome style security cameras on the outside of our MFHs (2 units each) in Jersey City.

@Scott Trench Just about everyone has a video camera on their phone.

Can't do that anymore due to cameras and phones.

, do you add security camera outside or home security  such as 'ADT" or will that make them uncomfortable?

Ravi Kiran Wow, you're planning on adding a ton of expenses to prevent car break ins.There are some cheaper options that you could start with.The gate is a visual deterrent... so is a dummy video camera and signage.An auditable deterrent is to have a bell set up to a light beam so when someone walks across and breaks the line of sight, the bell/buzzer rings.

Would it be your standard home security/alarm or would you include surveillance also?

I'm thinking website launch, newspaper classifieds, Craigslist, Google AdWords geo-targeted to the city, a large storefront signage and building personal relationships visiting realtors, local businesses that might need storage and banks.Beyond maintenance I could add features like security cameras, moving supplies retail, and graveling the area around the units - currently it's just grass.Here's the advice I would love: when you take over a facility, what are the first things you do to promote it?  

Install some fake security cameras, or real if you don't mind the expense, to keep eyes on the place.Most of the tenants are connected to others in the community looking for the same type of housing.

This is not the case for cameras the tenants provide ("my security cameras").
