Yes, there are certain issues to pay closer attention to when assessing an old structure's needs versus a newer one - things like knob & tube wiring, crusty single pane windows, lack of adequate insulation, asbestos, etc but each one is so unique and often has been upgraded in various stages over the years that it's difficult to set a consistent generic guideline for any of them.Things may be different in other areas but that's how it is in mine.
