As an example the Tea Party just got a group of Republican Congressman who asked for 1 Billion dollars in earmarks last year to commit to a ban on future earmarks.

Is there any chance that we can be banned from renting out places on Airbnb because of this incident?

The most ban for your buck when it comes to increasing rents is by finishing more square footage (attic or basement) or converting a spare room to a bedroom.
