We have noticed that communication between the GC/Subs varies drastically depending on the trade, level of sophistication, whether they speak English...etc.

Multis, and the english basement rental properties are very competitive, they can be had, but they are hard.

Belize also has a lot going for it - protected natural resources, law and property ownership similar to England (as it was once an English colony), and English as the national language.

In speaking with the tenants with a translator (they do not speak English), they told me that the previous owner new about it and it had been an issue for many years. 

Obviously if those salary/tax statements are in a language other than English, prepare to jump through some hoops like certified translation (tip - do it online!)

I am super frustrated with them and spend hours talking to a person who barely speaks English and finally go back to the store.  

I would even so bold as to say the OP stands a better chance of finding a Canadian attorney and accountant with experience in the U.S.A. than the other way around (particularly where the OP is located in PQ which has a different legal system not rooted in English common law).
