I did was a few thousand using "debt relief" services that offer an extremely small service for a very expensive price.

This, in turn, reduced the overall loan payments significantly and created a real relief for the owners who were able to make these lower payments. 

Regulatory relief is officially on its way, but before you get too excited, here's the bad news.
