Hi everyone,
My name is Michael Ouvrard, and even though I've been trolling the forums and utilizing the educational materials from BP for the past month, this is my first of hopefully many posts. I'm 29 years old, graduated from UW-Madison's School of Pharmacy in 2013 to attain my Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and currently live downtown Milwaukee. Sadly, the only aspect of retail pharmacy I've enjoyed the past three years is the high pay. Being single, no kids, pets, or obligations, I have found myself with some time on my hands (other than my 40-hr work week), and I've been trying to figure out where to invest that time to build some wealth until I came to BP. This website as well as various books and resources has seriously opened my brain to so many opportunities other than science and medicine. It's a welcome relief from what I am typically exposed to and I find educating myself in REI isn't work to me like I see my normal job, which keeps me wondering why I'm still working my 9-5.
In addition to being a pharmacist and aspiring REI, I have a passion for fishing. I have my Captain's License from the U.S. Coast Guard and owned a charter fishing business (Catch Five Charters) in Door County, WI with my father for several years. Another future goal is to start this business up again somewhere in the Florida Keys, which is another motivating factor to become successful in the REI field.
My current goal is to owner-occupy my first multifamily property by August and keep "house hacking" multifamilies every year for several years, Cory Binsfield style. I'm currently interviewing CPAs, lenders, and real estate agents to add to my team so any feedback from fellow Milwaukee investors is always appreciated. I also plan to attend my first REIA meeting in Milwaukee next month to hopefully network further and maybe find a mentor. Thanks for having me on the forum!
Michael Ouvrard, Pharm.D.
