Even then, we did not arrive there lightly nor quickly; the gentleman was from an affluent family in a culture in which women are viewed as possessions and servants and we tried to work with him to move him from the views - or at lease the behaviour - of his upbringing.We had one other international student who up and left in the middle of the night (so to speak) leaving belongings behind and {appearing} to skip out on rent.

I think is a fairly acurate view of the law: The federal Fair Housing Act of 1968 and the federal Fair Housing Act Amendments Act of 1988 prohibit discrimination on the basis of the following criteria (called “protected categories”): race or color; religion; national origin; familial status or age—includes families with children under the age of 18 and pregnant women; disability or handicap, or sex.?
