And I noticed their offer letter said to convey the fridge but not the washer and dryer so I sold those on the last day for some extra cash.

If no one is occupying the unit and you are in the cold winter months... unplug all appliances including the fridge (they love nesting near the warm compressor motor, and the dishwasher also provides a warm humid environment), open all cabinets and appliance doors.

If things are just old (like oven heating element going out, fridge compressor quitting, etc), then you just have a good chunk of things that are fully on you to fix.

For my area, a unit missing a fridge isn't going to be rented very easily, where as I don't provide washer or dryer but have the hookups.
