I've been thinking that it may be a good idea to purchase a home in the Hampton Roads, Va area to live in for six to eight months when I get back to the states, and then rent it out after I leave the military in the area.If I were to purchase a home, I would use the VA loan, and then throw twenty thousand dollars into an account to cover any expenses that may come up with this home while renting it out, such as vacancies or something needing to be repaired.

I guess after 20 years you do have paid for assets.. and that's not a bad thing either if you bought them in your twentys and and they are paid for in your 50s  paid for real estate should be the goal on these properties then your really making true profit.
