After discussing additional market investment opportunities with our financial planner, we decided to turn towards real estate. 

I'm more of a planner and I don't have as many connections since I just moved into a new location.

On the other hand, financial planners I have lost a lot of faith in that industry.

I've made some connections with a city planner and he's helped me along with questions and people that I can connect further with.

You can check zoning with the city or county planner and see what it is zoned for.

I'm not sure why anyone would need all of this other than possibly a big syndicate planning to build developments or city planners looking at housing trends to help understand development revenues and infrastructure need.

On the other hand I think it's worth understanding that city planners have the responsibility of ensuring the integrity of residential communities by not having entire swaths of areas get converted into vacation rentals.

I plan to call a financial planner who does free work for the military but want to do my research first.
