So, giving you a resident's viewpoint, for what it's worth.As others have mentioned, "downtown" Joliet and most of the area between the Des Plaines River and Interstate 55 is older homes.

@Ed Lee Like the way you think, it takes a while for me too, but buy with lots of equity up front and making 1.9% in top school and great areas, not worth the headache buying OSI (other side of interstate) and paying higher taxes, etc even though would easily top 2-3%. 

Unless you park in the top parking lot close to the interstate then at night when the game lets out you are forced to drive the homeless section and it takes 45 minutes to get out on the interstate.

It's near the interstate and on the northwest side of the highest point in Cheyenne.

We're going to go for sale by owner coupled with an MLS listing since there are four or five other houses for sale in the neighborhood which require driving past us to get to, and we'll be about the second lowest list price by about $40K+ (same build timeframe, no issues, just different specifics).We live in a "rural commuter subdivision", you might say, five minutes from the interstate, and though there are a decent amount of sales in our area, inventory isn't exactly flying off the shelf.

Very close to interstate, less than 500 ft from bus access, and near one of the busiest streets and intersections.
