A number of states have passed legislation recently, and a number are slated to pass some in the near future.

Tacoma is way over priced in my view; and they are passing laws that ape Seattle's tenant centric legislation.

The gov has signed some legislation which is insurance company friendly so some new insurers have come in. 

For instance, Seattle has been allowing these for years, but this past year the state passed legislation that requires all cities in WA to allow for the addition of ADU's and DADU's to be build on lots of a certain size.

At the time, the county/Building and Planning dept was woefully behind on recognizing the new CA state legislation re: ADUs and downright maleficent in that it was not going to approve anything unless forced to do it.
