I might want to reconsider if you had to sell fast.

I saw a lot of duplex's in Galveston that seemed to be much more affordable than the ones in Houston but may need to reconsider this idea. 

Then reconsider your business model and product (rental unit) quality. 

That said, if experienced investors here can correct me saying Atlanta is a good option, then I can reconsider.

I wanted to do this a few years back but the two things that made reconsider are:1.

We identified 2 very good comparable properties that were in the same neighborhood and wrote up a very nice letter - no name calling - pointing out our concerns with the comps used and asking if the appraiser would kindly reconsider based on the additional comps we have located which seemed to be better for comparison.The loan officer we were working with sent us back a rather rude email and essentially broke up with us.  

If not, I might strongly reconsider doing this deal.

I guess if the market stays depressed or shows signs of breaking down the ball will be back in the government’s court to reconsider the foreign buyer tax and if that is repealed or reduced, it is likely to prop up the market again maybe?

At 1st I considered recording a voicemail along the lines of screening the call with a few questions but after reading your post it made me reconsider.
