Tastes, to some extent, are developed in childhood based on what you see and hear in your family and social circles, along with the media and other influences.

Even if I spent a week listening to the seller's problems; thoroughly psychoanalyzed them; discussed their childhood and all their issues; and had a good cry with them, THE MATH STILL WOULDN'T CHANGE.
