I knew this would be upsetting to him but thus far I've been good on all my payments, I fronted materials + first draw before work ever began, I paid other draws and change orders before work was even completed despite the awful communication, delays, and just blatant disregard for deadlines, timelines, and tenants.

There are way too many threads on here where you have many frivolous quacks, running around blatantly defrauding people and extorting money from them in broad daylight and all your suggestions usually are -- "...it was probably just a mistake..." or "...just pay and move on..."

You can try fighting it and there are plenty of articles about that, but in most cases they wont adjust the number unless there is a blatant mistake like square footage being wrong or something like that.
