Hi everyoneI am a South African moving to Grand Cayman for 18 months for work in December, and I am without a doubt planning to diversify into US real estate during my time there.I am currently considering Florida, as it is the closest / most readily accessible state from the island, and more specifically Orlando or Tampa.In that regard, could anyone possibly shed some light on the following, as well as any other useful info you may have re these areas?

There is a headache and active versus more passive component to evaluate a return.Plopping 40k down for a few hundred a month cash flow doesn't do anything for me.Talked to a South African investor the other day when he was visiting the states in GA.

I'm always glad to see a fellow South African joining the ranks on here ^^I'd recommend reading Brandon Turner's Ultimate beginner guide if you haven't already, that's a great starting point.Most important is to first figuring out your niche and if it is possible in your area.

@Ron Brady@Scott MacIt does not read as if Ron is implying your identical property as a Caucasian is worth more than his as an American of African descent, that lenders tolerate racial bias, or that lenders are all one race.

Kind of pricey, but they seem to like it.And yes it's aggravating to have to alter your well made plans.And if it's really bugging you one day, just remember this video of a Tiger Mom having to feed (3) very cute big baby tigers laying out in the dirt in the African Jungle.You will have a fridge again, and probably pretty fast too.Good Luck!
