Of course they never found it and the city of Harrisburg eventually went bankrupt due to the massive expenditure of placing the official USA Today “#1 City in the USA” graphic on every police car, ambulance, uniform, fire truck, building, park bench, police dog, memorial statue, lamppost, street light, crossing guard, trash truck… you get the point.

I tripped over this article the other night, which sums up a lot of what I've been thinking about REI lately: Investing in Real Estate Won't Build Massive WealthI think there are some pretty obvious omissions or flaws in it, most notably that the author is looking at ten years as an unbearable amount of time to build "massive" wealth, but that it also hits on some very important points.

They see real estate as a pure tax write-off hobby.I consider it a pretty good deal - two properties are located in areas that are active and sprawling - one property in particular is situated next to a massive vacant lot (where a factory once stood, but was demolished years ago) that has been bought by commercial developers who have released plans to bring a large grocery store, along with shopping and eateries - I know this information because, well, just trust that I know.
