I would say the exhaust fan if it went out within one year of them being there you probably want to replace the motor.

The zoning is done with motorized dampers, one on each outlet from the plenum.

Sounds like a vibration in the wall from a pipe or something else not mounted properly.If you look at the drywall at the corner it is not very straight going up.

If you get an HDTV, mount it on the wall in a place that does not have much foot traffic in front of it. 

I would choose ground mounted over roof mounted. 

I also see wall mount range hoods like THIS from Home Depot.
