I'm about 2 years into this "helper role" or "apprentice" role if you will and I'm starting to take on larger and larger roles and run my own deals.

I’d even consider finishing the basement, just well enough for me to live down there, so I could rent out ALL the units.I’d save all my cash and look to refi the property in 1-2 years out of the FHA mortgage, so I could use it again if necessary.

@Sidney Johnson just make sure that your finances and relationship are in a good place to attack this from a position of strength.

Also, jumping into real estate straight out of high school is amazing! 

It depends on where you want to live, income, personality, and other factors.You could buy a large home and rent out the individual rooms to cover expenses, but this comes with problems.

As I've been doing more and more deals over the years, and gaining more and more experience I been having people reach out about how they can invest with me on future deals whether it be Buy & Hold or Flipping.

Then I had a furnace go out, several appliances break, a collapsed sewer line, heavier-than-usual turnover, etc.
