The line would flow through Eastern Oregon desert, through Nevada desert, on into the Arizona desert.  

We are only considering the eastern coastal areas of VA, FL for more warmth.6) And to throw this into the mix, although it might not be appropriate for this site, we've thought about buying land, having a modular (not manufactured/mobile) home built and delivered to site, which should cost less than purchasing a home, I think.

My family and I own a rental townhome in Falling Waters, West Virginia (eastern panhandle bordering Maryland and Virginia) that is currently rented.

Home prices are insane in the NYC metro at the moment, so this would be for immediate cash flow, as vacation rentals are doing exceptionally well in Hudson Valley and eastern LI while cost per month of 12-month contract is fairly stable.

What I would suggest is do a deep dive into STR regulations in towns/counties similar to yours all across the eastern part of the country.
