Perhaps it is just coincidence, but ever time any agent/broker conversation comes up regarding commissions or their value to a transaction, almost all the pro agent comments come from agents and almost all the neg comments come from others.To be clear, when I used the word "standard" in the context of this conversation, I did NOT mean to say that it is required or that there is a standard, just to imply that the standard or average is a certain percentage.Of course everything is negotiable, but in certain industries, there are standard or average costs and as such, many just do not bat an eye, they just pay the quoted "standard" price.

I am now testing a market that I know enough for my next investment property which happens to be in France but you don't have to go that far :-) I'd suggest you build enough experience with local rentals before you buy in a different area though.
