Finally, the reason that the OP has seen different numbers from the gurus (1% of rents, etc) is that the gurus are interested in selling you their expensive seminars, courses, coaching, and mentoring.

just because time brought the stock market back doesn't mean the stock broker was right, my broker made me as much money in down markets as he did in up markets and would never have told me to ride it out, that's for clients flying coach, my broker wanted his clients flying first class.

This is just advice from my own personal experience and from coaching hundreds of other people.

If you find a genuine coach that will teach you the ropes they often times provide an earn while you learn coarse of action.

I coach soccer in the spring/fall and futsol in the winter.
