Think about it, you do have Disney World that brings tons of tourists, but the amount of STR's, long term rentals, and all kinds of hotels in the area is really excessive.

I assume it is if many bookings come from them in this area.We also self-manage and began doing that in N Florida, St Augustine, another top tourist destination.

Vacation rentals are a lot more work, but if you're in a high-demand area for tourists and can have high occupancy, you can make a lot of money. 

However, I think Covid-19 is putting extreme stress on some tourist towns like Bend since people are not using Airbnb rentals, service industry employees are some of the highest unemployed, etc. 

Our family has a summer home in Glen Arbor, and we've noticed growing demand in that area, due mostly to the National Lakeshore park as well as growing tourist franchises (CR, M22) with plans of expanding to more towns. 

The general idea--at least back in the day, was to connect with the local culture and friends network and get beneath the usual tourist level of interaction.

Augustine is a hot tourist spot.

Why in tourist areas do you restrict more people coming or larger groups?
