Arlington County considered legalizing them a couple years ago, but I think the legislation stalled with the County Board. 

I've also known state actors to overstep their authority into illegal activities, too.Even in Texas, legislators and TRELA (the licensing agency) have been tinkering with the definition of what it means to "broker". 

(On another note: I'm unsure of the constitutionality of the whole idea of saying in legislation, "This is the law, and the following activities must be done according to this law, plus every other activity which isn't on the list but which achieves a similar result as the following activities."

Hi Bryan,I own STR's in Scottsdale and fortunately the Governor signed legislation to legalize vacation rentals statewide. 

I thought short term rental was ban in Santa Cruz years ago, as a coworker at the time bought into it and a year later, short term rental got banned....She took a big hit at the time because RE prices tanked because of that legislation.....But it seems to be legal again now?  

Also Tillman Fertitta has push legislation through the city to restrict new hotels and condos along the seawall.

Redmond had no issues bringing in lots of land that has subsequently gone up for development or is awaiting master planning.I think this subject is a hot topic that you and I may disagree with on some levels and am not sure that this is the forum to argue the merits of the "draconian" legislation, that we both agree is fundamentally flawed and needs changes.

Then start the administrative process serving them an affidavit of truth...citing all the sections of the state constitution the are violating, like taking private property for personal use without legislation (from the general assembly...general law) not ******** special law codes and statutes, and just compensation for its use. 

While we would all like for our tenants and their children to be fine and upstanding citizens in and away from our properties, we cannot legislate it.
