A solid wood cabinet can be made to look new by replacing the doors and refinishing the cabinets. 

It's not that they scratch that easily but unlike real hardwood it's not typically easy or possible to refinish them so I always prefer something that will look good for the long run.

There's significant electrical work, significant wall and more importantly here ceiling drywall demo/repair/refinishing (if we're talking the best-case scenario, it's drywall and not plaster) and significant repainting, The risk is not just in the here and now, it's in the shoddiness of the drywall repair (and the electrical work in this case) only becoming fully evident years from now.

Worst case having to refinish the hardwood floors.I ask because over the years I've seen the number of renters with pets skyrocket.Thanks for ideas.

lvp now,  ceramics on concrete foundations,I had a lady ruin 2500 sqft of laminates with a sponge mop.animals and carpet don't mix. hardwoods need refinishing from wear. there's a reason Walmart's are using vinyl plank in the walkways of there carpeted areas. they seem to be wearing very well.

I have two units I need to renovate, wanted to know if I should take out the existing tabs and replace with new or call a refinishing/glazing company to renew the bathrooms?

Living room/bedrooms/hallway: Ripped out all the carpet, replaced all interior and closet doors, painted walls, ceiling, trim, refinished the original hardwood floors, and installed new blinds.Bathroom: Completely gutted the entire bathroom, had to add a new venting kit and bathroom ceiling light/fan combo.

Full remodel (hardwood floors refinished, complete remodel of two baths, painting the entire outside and all the trim inside; new flooring in basement and kitchen; new cabinets ; added a/c to rooms).

We ripped out the ugly flooring in the kitchen and refinished the beautiful hardwoods underneath along with new cabinets, ss appliances and granite.
