Unfortunately, the real estate game is quite heavily saturated with people/software trying to make money on people.... not houses. 

I currently live in Alexandria, VA .. me and my so are heavily leaning towards moving to Richmond, VA.

I see the slowest price reduction on properties that need to be slashed heavily.

I've checked rental history and personal references across borders before, so I know that's possible and somewhat helpful, but wouldn't weigh heavily on such. 

Selling income producing assets at the beginning of retirement seems to be a bad precedent, especially ones that do well with inflation.I'd diversify by going with the real estate approach if I was in your position as your current retirement plan is heavily reliant on the stock market.

I am wondering if this investment makes sense... on a black and white stand point however - the future potential has got me considering it heavily.
