I'd suggest aggressively spraying for a few days, and if it doesn't get  better within a week, then I'd then try and determine exactly which subfloor needs to be replaced.. it's a real dose of humble pie when your nose is on the ground trying to track the location.

I've seen people take those off and there is a white line of paint going up their nose right around where you can't pinch it tight enough near your nose.

Of course, you can go get a loan as the new owner, take out the existing financing and completely remove the fractured interests of the previous owner.
