Fast forward a bit: I have been renting my primary home at that duty location in GA (active military) and am getting ready to sell my home in Tampa FL to fund a STR on the Emerald Coast.

My wife and I actually found our STR on Zillow. we just so happen to run across a great deal.

or is it more like a traditional STR on a continuous rotation?

Hello, first time homebuyer here looking to purchase a 2/1 in central Florida and want to know the feasibility /  complications of building an ADU for STR on and existing LTR property (local gov regulations aside).

If you're considering STR on your personal home, that means you probably have a home in a great spot - that's half the battle.

In my STR on Lake Superior I have a separate room for fish cleaning and a cutting board to do it outside in the summer. 

I would take a not so stron approach.  

Long term tenants followed by brief STR on Airbnb, then sale with great profit.

Investor here with a few SF rentals, my first duplex, and a couple of acres in the mountains I'm looking to build a STR on.
