Stark black trim tends to be a little harsh, Peppercorn is a dark charcoal color that will add a little more softness while still achieving the main goal of contrast and avoid any harsh/cold tones!

Well, in all reality, its a 60+ year old house with full-on soft asbestos siding (which has been deteriorated at the bottom edge in some places, but still 100% functional and certainly not going to rot) and a double layer of asphalt shingles.

It is unlikely that you need to replace the drywall.If the water source that is causing the mold is behind the wall, then the drywall would be crumbling (or at least soft) so you would need to replace it.
