The "anti-gentrification" crowd tells you that price increases are immoral, but are they really ok with crime-ridden slums?

It seems many professionals just throw folks into the mix and hope all will work out.I believe I am going to have to buy/fix/finance most of my homes because the holding time seems to be rising all the time, maybe from dumb anti flip laws, second appraisals or folks not doing their jobs. 

Hi BP,I am originally from LA and I am interested in Boyle Heights, CA near DTLA (Downtown LA) and I have been reading about a lot of anti gentrification protests going on and anti- redevelopment resentment happening.

If faced with this nature of contamination again, we would plan a full gut of the property (and make our offer accordingly), especially in light of some recent studies showing that painting / resurfacing only contains the toxins for a time and they eventually make there way back to the surface where they are absorbed by the new inhabitants ... especially small children.

As others have pointed out - perhaps your screening process is flawed and it sounds like you are not a good fit for this investing strategy - at least not in Chicago.If you do invest again, pick a municipality that is not so anti-landlord.  

Look, anytime someone touts "green" technology, there are a ton of hidden costs and anti-environmental concerns they refuse to address.

I'm not lake-front action but it's doing alright, and I feel good moving away from risks of anti-landlord Seattle. 

Just be careful that area tends to be anti short term.I wouldn’t go too nuts with the theming.

Actually, that's not RC, that's the NJ anti eviction statute!

Both NYC and Vegas are VERY anti-STR.
