We are largely dependent on lower wage employment like hospitality/restaurant and tourism so many of those people that do own will be in trouble and likely go into foreclosure or do loan mods which will also get them in trouble down the line. 

There are two small groups in the area that were pushing for it but the city wasn't having it, they understand the revenue and tourism the STRs bring in and they are investing a ton of money into the new 29 palms phoenix project/downtown revitalization,https://www.ci.twentynine-palm...

So we followed a tried and true method of REI (buy a multi with an FHA) and our success was elevated by the high tourism traffic and high real estate appreciation rates in our area.

@Mark Miles you’d be surprised at how much money the tourism industry brings in in Duluth.

They are not touting the returns, dad had to do extensive due diligence (both legal and financial) I guess it's the same as owning holiday rentals, as long as they keep the property up and the Australian tourism market keeps on keeping on, things should go OK.I'm pretty sure it's open for new money, that's what I was discussing with him last night.

I speak with the tourism commission for the county and they say they just don't have enough rooms for people who want to stay there.

Clearwater is a strong tourism market so maybe even turn it into a vacation rental 

And since there's absolutely no proof anywhere that the hotels do this better than str investors, and the development of tourism and even the City TOT is benefiting from it,  why voting these laws if not under the influence of the lobbies?

There is a good amount of tourism and you are likely to have low occupancy if you price the unit right and have a location closer to the beach. 

It is like most of rural Missouri, but it t has tourism and Table Rock Lake to set it apart.
