One, is interruption marketing; direct mail, phone calls, text messaging, blast email, etc.The other is letting the sellers come to you; build a great website, promote it through SEO, SEM, social media, etc.

I work in software and do I consider myself proficient enough to get it set up, however I also want to focus my time on other areas of my business and hire a solid professional to guide me on the website set up, SEO and paid ads, etc. 

Maybe you want to do adds and SEO marketing.  

If you’re doing your SEO separate then doesn’t matter.

As for websites they’re valuable for recognition and branding, great if you put a bunch of time into making useful content and SEO, and required if you have a new small business.
