Are you considering moving permanently to PR?

I currently own a townhome which I have house hacked and I have one permanent renter and one temporary renter (stays half weeks and pays a percentage).

I have had a similar situation and permanent fixes require numerous solutionsRe-grade the lot, install gutters and get the water away from the foundation, Dig around foundation and install drains leading to a sump, pump the water away from the foundation.Adding new drain lines around the foundation can be done by digging around the outside of the entire foundation or by cutting the concrete floor around the interior parameter and adding the lines leading to a sump.None of this will prevent the storm drain from backing up as that is caused by exterior issues related to the city storm system.

This will be permanent/long-term structure and then we don't have to change anything later.

The underwriter just wants me to have a US address that I call my permanent residence.

Are you in Japan permanently or are you returning stateside at some point?

Also I don't recommend using air vents as they must be permanently disabled in the open position.

My wife and I want to build a portfolio of rental properties there, generating enough cash flow to get us to permanent residency status within a one-year time frame.

We do have permanent financing products to do the hold portion of the transaction.  

I just statted graduate school at NYU Poly and I'm struggling to find a more permanent place to live in Brooklyn.
