HI, I am interested in learning about Puerto Rico

Hello, All

I am new to BP, stumbled across this site while researching buying property in Puerto Rico.  I live in NYC, own property in Georgia (rental) and looking to possibly buy a house in Rincon, PR.

I am wondering if I have missed the opportunity to buy in Rincon as prices are much higher than I expected. Does anyone know this area well? I understand San Juan to be the more touristy side but I have fallen in love with this area over SJ.  I would be able to live in the house while renting the lower unit, thus taking advantage of the tax breaks.

I hope to find help with securing loans for purchase as I believe US banks will not provide loans in PR.  I've heard and read horror stories about trying to secure loans in PR.

I look forward to meeting others and learning from everyone.
