I do have a unique network in south east Asia and Europe (lived in both areas for 4 years each) that I hope one day my investing career can take advantage of.

Mine are high net worth individuals from Asia who want moderate returns from a boutique investment company, and not some faceless fund that controls billions.

I wish you could visit Davao City one of these days and see why it's considered as one of the retirement havens in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

We moved to Portland in early 2014 after living and working abroad in South Asia for several years.

After a 6 month journey through Asia in 2015, earning income through online marketing and staying at AirBnB listings, I decided to make the trip permanent. 

There is a ton of money, as you mention, that has been pouring into Asia for awhile now.
