I wouldn't want to repaint the entire place esp with the reduced rent? 

And be ready to constantly repaint and re-carpet. 

Mold  must be removed.And to remove it it requires that you remove the trim and then remove the mold, then you have to re sheet rock , then tape and mud several coats of mud, then install new trim.Then putty and caulk the trim,   then repaint everything again, two coats at least.
